Now this was so much fun! i was given the chance to Direct a music video for a local artist, Atama. The song is “Haro Poh Logoton” from the album “Bakakuk”, Atama’s 2nd album.
the first time i was given the mantle of Director was during a FINAS video production course some time ago. This however, is very different from directing a short story in which there was no dialogue but we had to shoot according to the lyrics. The key was to sync the lips of the singers exactly to the song, so we had the song playing in the background while they acted the scenes out. This was crucial in the later part of editing. I also did the editing on this video, storyboard was done by Jen Julius.

This video shoot was done in 3 days (13 – 15 July 2009) by the Borneo Production Crew. Our locations were all around Kota Kinabalu.
The video was launched on 16 August 2009 together with Atama’s 2nd album “Bakakuk” during the Star City North Hip Hop Championship 2009.
video will be available soon

Finally! Dewa 19 in KK! I never thought it would ever be possible, because big Indonesian bands like them only does concerts in KL, until now!!! Last Saturday (15-12-2007), I went to Stadium Likas to see them perform. I took some pics and videos (though the videos are only short clips).

A shot of the stage before the concert starts.
And then, the stage was darkened and I knew Dewa was next to play.

At the end of their final song, they said “Terima Kasih, Kinabalu!”

All in all, Dewa 19 concert was an awesome show! They did a stellar performance. Our local artists (Jinbara, Felix and Ella) also did a good job. But, Ella must have been so surprised to see the crowd’s laid back attitude. “Mari nyanyi sama-sama! “… … crickets … …
Somehow I felt weird when Dewi-Dewi (Indo Girl Pop Group) was singing. They were covering Dewa songs, but in a Pop/R&B way and made the stadium so quiet (maybe most everyone was so puzzled, “huh? what is this?”. Though they managed to pick up the crowd’s mood with their own hit “Dokter Cinta” as their last song (which sounded too much like “Everybody Dance Now”.
There are a few things that every singer/band/group needs to know about performing in KK, the audience here are shy and very laid back. Asking the audience to sing-along is fine, but we came to hear you guys sing, not tuneless out of sync singing of our own voices. Also, there is no mosh-pit or stage diving, or crying/feinting. We might seem “cold” but we are enjoying your music, just in our own way.
After people started to leave, I finally found my sisters and cousin.
